Information

Acclaimed novelist Tina Makereti joins us all the way from New Zealand for a special event exploring her powerful new novel The Mires. Set in a near-future Aotearoa, the story brings together three women whose lives intertwine against a backdrop of environmental change, migration and belonging. Both lyrical and propulsive, this gripping novel blends social realism with a haunting sense of the natural world, where danger simmers just beneath the surface. A finalist for the Ockham New Zealand Book Awards and nominated for the Dublin Literary Award, The Mires marks Makereti as one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary fiction.
