MenCon is a radical reinterpretation of the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto Op.64, wherein the solo part remains completely intact (realised by violinist Chihiro Ono), and the orchestral parts are reinterpreted and recomposed by a chamber orchestra of creative musicians from a variety of disciplines and backgrounds, led by composer Neil Luck.
After several acclaimed performances, broadcasts, and a record release since 2022, the group is bringing this chameleonic, unrepeatable, unpredictable, risky work on tour to be realised with several groups. In Dublin, we team up with Kirkos Ensemble.
Alongside MenCon, Kirkos will present a performance of Sebastian Adams / Alvin Lucier's "I am Sitting in a Can of Soup" simultaneously with a performance of Alison Knowles' "Make a Salad", which will culminate in a light lunch served to the audience.
Yseult Cooper Stockdale and Andy Ingamells will also perform their joint composition "Songs to strip by".
