Colour slowly fades from the world, and the moon bathes everything in blue. What inherits the world as we sleep?

Through our Open Studio programme, Manipulate Festival is supporting Scottish artists at a critical juncture in their practice to develop new projects and new ways of working.
Hopeful Monster Theatre have been experimenting with techniques for Dusk Till Dawn, exploring how lighting design and puppetry can develop in tandem from the outset of the process. They have set out to conjure up a visual world that’s beautiful and eerie, where nature has taken hold. They are inspired by the aesthetic of the cameraless photography technique, cyanotype, and the layering of shadow puppetry and projection on textured surfaces.
Unfamiliar shapes gather as the darkness draws in. When finished, Dusk Till Dawn will be a small-scale, intimate performance where audiences will experience a dreamlike journey.
After a week of creative research and development, we now invite audiences to join us for this experimental and participatory sharing.
In the Open Studio session, you’ll be able to explore some of the ideas developed by the artists and ask questions, alongside opportunities to try out techniques that the artists have used in their research process. Through the programme we aim to bring artists and audiences closer together and to demystify the process of creating new performance works.
This event is free, and you can drop-in between 10.30am - 11.30am. You are welcome to book a free ticket to let us know you will be attending.
