Join Berlin-based collective KMZ Kollectiv for an immersive workshop exploring how simple, raw materials can unlock powerful stories and provoke new ways of thinking. Known for their bold and inventive performances, KMZ Kollectiv use minimal means to tackle political and social themes of global relevance. Visiting Manipulate Festival with their award-winning performance Coffee with Sugar? which explores global trade and immigration through the lens of the titular substances, previous works focus on coal as a lens to explore indigenous land rights (Warm as Coal) and potatoes and plaster to explore colonialism in museums (Five Exhibits).
In this hands-on session, participants will experiment with KMZ’s methods of devising, building, and performing, transforming everyday objects into tools for creative expression and social commentary. Whether you’re a theatre-maker, performer, or curious creator, this workshop offers fresh inspiration and practical techniques to bring more depth, immediacy, and purpose to your work.
