A one hour guided tour of Midhope Castle so you don't miss any of your favorite Outlander filming locations. You may even find out some of the real history behind the castle.
Located on the private Hopetoun Estate near South Queensferry, Midhope Castle is the filming location for Outlander's Lallybroch, the family home of the main character Jamie Fraser.
As the castle is now derelict, and not accessible on the inside, this ticket is for our one hour guided tour of the castle grounds and affords a fantastic photo opportunity for fans of the show who wish to get near to the castle building, courtyards and steps as well as giving you lots of information on the real history of the castle.
This ticket is for a one hour guided tour of the castle grounds only, the drive leading to the castle, the archway, the courtyard and of course the castle steps. There is also access to a countryside walk along the Midhope Burn.
The start time is on your ticket and you should arrive ten minutes BEFORE this time so you are not late. If you arrive late you may not be able to join the tour.
As we are an entirely open air location please dress for the weather on the day of your visit.
Important Information
As we are located in open countryside, facilities are limited and there is no direct public transport to the castle. We therefore recommend using a tour company or your own transport to visit. If you do use a taxi it is important you have the driver wait for you as you will find it very difficult to get a taxi/UBER to pick you up from Midhope Castle.
Please use the car park provided and follow any instructions given by staff.
Midhope may be used as a location for periods of filming or other private Estate use and as there may be uncertainty surrounding the exact dates and schedules for these events, Hopetoun reserve the right to, at short notice:-
Close the site and cancel all bookings. (The ticket price will be rebated.)
At times restrict full access to the site.
As much notice as possible will be given in advance of periods of closure or disruption, but this may not always be possible.
