Our first free Saturday show of 2026, this utterly delightful five-piece from Glasgow will fill Pianodrome Bruntsfield with polyphonic singing and Greek folk songs.
The voices of Con’tylia, accompanied by the strings of a Cretan laouto, guitars, hand drums and clarinet aim to explore the wonders of Greek folk music, ranging from ambient ballads to Greek island dances. Together they delve into decades of Greek Trad, Minor Asian scales and unique rhythms, merging them with a touch of jazz vocals and improvisation.
The five member piece, sing solos, duets and quartets, to create polyphonic melodies and vocal interactions, with rhythms and melodies that explore the intricacies of the East Mediterranean region. Having played in Scotland for three years now, they have become a regular band in folk venues around Glasgow and Edinburgh.
