Will Pickvance, our soon to be Pianist in residence shall perform a welcoming lunchtime concert to form new resonance in the new Pianodrome Bruntsfield.
Announcing Will Pickvance as the Pianodrome’s Pianist in Resonance
The Pianodrome is delighted to announce Will Pickvance as its inaugural Pianist in Resonance.
The pianist, storyteller, and musical improviser, whose work blurs the lines between concert, theatre, and comedy, is known for his lyrical and spontaneous performances. Dubbed Edinburgh Fringe’s favourite pianist by the List, his shows have toured internationally, from the Sydney Opera House to the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts.
Will’s previously held residencies in a castle, a cathedral, and a cabaret club, but this will be his first resonancy: not simply residing in the Pianodrome, but resonating with it - responding to its acoustics, atmosphere, and community.
As Pianist in Resonance, Will will present a weekly lunchtime concert: a living laboratory of improvisations on original music and well-known pieces, woven together by in-the-moment conversation with the audience. From time to time, he’ll also be joined by guest musicians and artists working across different disciplines.
Will says, “Improvising at the piano is where my love of music began, before all the anecdotes and theatrics carried me away. These concerts take me back to the fundamentals. Simply playing around, experimenting with music, and sharing that intimate process with an audience in the uniquely wonderful Pianodrome.”
