“Tightly wound post punk from a group of individuals that give you the feeling that they're looking at the glass not so much half empty, but long since spilt and with no replacement on the horizon. The type of anguish that makes you either want to scratch your head at the state of the world, or take a full on somersault onto a razor blade” -Static Shock Records

Sydney’s Negative Gears recently released their first full-length album, Moraliser, on Static Shock and Urge Records. Drawing inspiration from heavyweights like Crisis, Units, Siekiera, and Rikk Agnew era Adolescents, Negative Gears seamlessly blend these diverse influences with the unique sensibilities of the Australian underground punk scene. The result is a powerful musical statement that resonates with the anxieties and frustrations of contemporary life and channels disillusionment into a sound that is intense, poignant, and uncompromising.

Since their 2019 European tour promoting their self-titled debut EP (released on Static Shock and Disinfect Records), the band has been meticulously self recording, writing and producing the follow up LP. While maintaining the frenetic energy and essence of Negative Gears' live performances and acclaimed earlier EP, Moraliser showcases more intricate songwriting and studio production – a culmination of years of refining their sound.
“Moraliser is calculated commentary, cutting observations with a magnifying glass, filled with reflection and evisceration in equal parts. A record from the city about the
current cultural zeitgeist, for those who hate both.”
