Following last year’s Mingus-themed quintet gig, bassist Rohan Armstrong brings a stellar sextet to the club.
Following last year’s Mingus-themed quintet gig, this performance sees an expanded lineup interpreting music by some of the genre’s most iconic innovators, including McCoy Tyner, Eric Dolphy, John Coltrane, Sonny Rollins, Pat Metheny, Bill Frisell, Ornette Coleman, and Herbie Hancock.
Rohan is joined by two of Ireland’s foremost improvisers — the ever-inventive Cathal Roche on saxophones and bass clarinet, and guitar virtuoso Mike Nielsen. Completing the group are London-based drummer and club regular Andrew McCoubrey, long-time collaborator James Anderson on drums/percussion, and making his debut at Scott's, the prodigiously talented 20-year-old Edan Bradley on piano.
