Acclaimed folk trio TRÚ launches their latest release with a concert in O'Regan's, Dublin
Following an international tour of the USA, Canada and Switzerland in 2024, TRÚ will play a handful of Irish dates in 2025 to accompany their latest release.
The trú was a mythological trio of poet-musicians in ancient Ulster. They were revered throughout Ireland, some believing their songs and stories came to them from the future. Others maintained that the trú were possessed by spirits during performance. As such, they were considered gatekeepers to the Otherworld.
From Gaelic Waulking songs and Scots lullabies to vengeful Japanese spirits and other mysterious characters, debut album ‘No Fixed Abode’ (shortlisted for BEST ALBUM at the Northern Ireland Music Prize 2021) draws inspiration from centuries of folklore in Ireland, Britain and beyond.
Their follow-up album ‘Eternity Near’ saw an expansion in the group's sound. Traditional track "Is fada liom uaim í" was shortlisted for BEST VIDEO at the Northern Ireland Music Prize 2024, where the LP was also longlisted for BEST ALBUM. TRÚ was also longlisted for BEST LIVE ACT.
In 2025, TRÚ is releasing a collection of singles; "Norah", "The Swan" and "The Molecatcher".
